River Thames

Yesterday, my brother and I made our way along the River Thames from the Millenium Bridge to Greenwich, on foot, Docklands Light Railway and river boat, in warm sunshine.

Wonderful shiny metal balls in the lane leading down from St Paul's to the Millenium Bridge - reflecting two photographers

So many photos, so little time to blog...

The sun peaked out from behind the storm clouds briefly on Wednesday (13th June), and I joined the masses of tourists in Westminster:

It took me ages to get this shot, as there were so many people who wanted their own photos taken with Big Ben in the background - I should have charged!

Lovely reflections of the Palace of Westminster in the windows of a bus on Westminster Bridge.

Stunning view from the South Bank

There were still lots of puddles around, here underneath the London Eye

Great reflections of the Eye in the ticket office as well

Same photo subjected to the magic of Photoshop :-)

River Pageant 3rd June 2012

Photos taken from a balcony by Battersea Bridge

This was the very beginning of the pageant.
The Queen arrived to board the Royal Barge by launch.  Her launch is the small boat almost in the centre of the photo that has just come under the railway bridge.
You can see the old steam train on the bridge and the first of the 1000 boats mustering upstream, with the flats of Chelsea Harbour in the background.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh standing and waving in the launch.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry were just in front of them in the cabin.

The first wave of boats propelled by oar approaching the start.

The first oar-propelled boat under Battersea Bridge

Followed by wave after wave of different types of boats.  I loved these little blue and white boats carrying the Commonwealth flags.

Some impression of the number of people at the start of the pageant - and there were far more at the end beyond Tower Bridge.

Every inch of space was crammed with people and flags!

And everyone was wearing their best clothes!
